Squash+ Outdoor Court Prototype, Cáceres

A prototype all-glass outdoor squash court with a polycarbonate canopy was built and tested at a country club in Cáceres, Spain, in 2022.

Delivered referenceReviewed

Squash Player reported the Squash+ prototype as the brainchild of Lee Witham, president of ProSportCourt. A contemporaneous Squash Mad interview with Witham described the court as under test in Spain before commercial design finalisation. Squash Dog did not design, fund or deliver the prototype.

A working prototype in Spain

Squash Player reported that Squash+ had built an all-glass outdoor prototype at a country club in Cáceres. A contemporaneous interview with Lee Witham described the court as having been tested in Spain for two or three months while the design was being finalised for the market. This documents a built and tested prototype, not a confirmed public facility.

A court designed to manage weather and visibility

The reported construction used a steel and polycarbonate outer structure, a high-impact glass floor with a drainage profile, and an inverted court above as a canopy. The concept was intended to provide weather protection while keeping play visible. These are design descriptions from 2022 reporting, not independent performance testing.

Flexible play was part of the concept

The prototype was described as adaptable for different racquets and balls, with an adjustable-height tin and a floor intended to alter bounce characteristics. These were reported product features and development goals; no independent standard, certification or operational evaluation was found.

Prototype status and access limits

The Cáceres location was a country-club test site. The sources do not establish public booking access, continuing operation, final commercial specifications or whether this prototype remains installed. Squash Player’s 2022 article said the product was on sale and reported early market interest; that is a historical statement and does not confirm present availability.

What Let’s Bounce can learn

Prototype testing can surface material, weather, visibility and playability issues before a wider rollout. Future projects should distinguish a product trial from a public access programme and verify the host, operating model and maintenance arrangements separately.
